Radiation increase at Fukushima Japan due to nuclear reactor incident has reached harmful level
The government declared that the radiation increase at Fukushima Japan due to the nuclear reactor incident caused by the earthquake and tsunami has reached a level where it is already harmful to living organisms.

The main concern about the raise in radiation is the radioactive iodine that contains iodine -131. Iodine -131 poses a distinct risk to human health as iodine is concentrated in the thyroid gland. The thyroid's exposure to high levels of radioactive iodine can lead to thyroid nodules and even thyroid cancer in later years.
In 1986 the nuclear accident which occurred at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant caused the entire locality, as well as, its nearby regions to suffer from the effects of too much exposure to radioactive iodine. Thus, many pregnant women, infants and children have in later years developed thyroid cancer.
Today, those that are in the position to take necessary actions in preventing radiation exposure have conducted careful tests and analysis to enable recommendations for the most suitable public health measures.
Esco, the world's leader in Biological Safety Cabinets, has the proper equipment to be used for laboratory tests of potentially radio-active samples. The Esco Cytoculture Lead-Shielded Class II biosafety cabinet is designed for radiopharmaceutical industry usage and protects the operator during work involving radioisotopes. Hence, the operator is protected from radiation by the lead-shielded sides, lead-shielded work zone bottom and front sliding sash.
Moreover, it is designed in such a way that the air enters the cabinet through the front air grille, and travels through the KI-impregnated carbon filter on which radioactive iodine is absorbed. Air then travels to the blower plenum where it is filtered by high-efficiency ULPA filters before being exhausted.
