New Delhi-37, India (prHWY.com) April 14, 2011 - There was nothing more soothing, more charming for the ears and more euphoric for the soul than the stirring music set to the holy hymns of Sri Guru Granth Sahib by Daler Mehndi.

The celebrations at the Baisakhi Concert at Tulip Hotel, Mumbai on April 09, 2011 started with Mehndi offering humble prayers to God in the form of 'Ardas'. Elevating the soul to universal consciousness was the highlight of the concert '300 saal guru de naal' performed by Mehndi. People got together in the remarkable celebration of togetherness, and joined him when he recited the 'Mool Mantra'. The atmosphere truly reverberated with holy fervor and gaiety.

Daler Mehndi brought the house down with his Baisakhi message. Greeting the people on the eve of Baisakhi, Mehndi reminded that Baisakhi has a multi-faceted importance in the history of India. The date establishes the foundation of Indian freedom to which "Hindustan" owes its free and independent identity. The day, which traditionally marks the beginnings of harvest season that yields nourishment for the body, simultaneously celebrates the initiation of 'Khalsa' or Pure, empowering the inner self on a holistic level.

Speaking about Panj Pyaras (Five Beloved), Mehndi expressed, "After 800 years of being Slaves under the Turks and the Mughals, for the first time in the history of slavery habitual, slavery modeled and oppressive, fearful country, the tenth Guru, Maharaja Shri Guru Gobind Singh created an army of saints and soldiers. The first Sikhs hailed from the lowest castes and from places like Jaggannath Puri, Bidar, Dwarka, Hastinapur and Lahore. He made a fighter out of a common man. The army of such Saints and Soldiers helped "Hindustan" become free and retain its identity of being "Hindustan" - a free, democratic, land of peers, saints, gurus, of many religious beliefs, varied languages and cultures".

The concert was truly colored in the shades of Mehndi. The maverick performer's vocals forced people (of various religions & languages) to cover their heads, stand up and join the holy celebrations.
