Naperville, IL (prHWY.com) November 15, 2012 - But what if they told you that changing the tone of your inner voice was the key to your weight loss success? It's a fact that successful dieter's motivate themselves through positive self talk. Unfortunately the number of individuals that struggle with their weight go the opposite route, leading to a negative impact not just on your weight loss results, but for you self esteem as well.
Negative self talk will put a distructive end to any positive effort you attempt to put into life, causing you to suddenly feel like you'll never get it right. Weight loss is a sensitive issue as it is and absolutely the wrong time to beat yourself up. Most of us already feel a little down about ourselves when we gain weight so it's more important then ever to build yourself up; not tear yourself down as you venture into your weight loss efforts.
Sometimes you don't even realize you're beating yourself up, but if you stop a minute when something negative comes out like "I'll never lose weight" or "where's your will power chubby?" Even seeing these statements in print make you feel bad! Well, it's time to be you own best friend and stop the negative voice in your head. Remind yourself that you would never talk to your best friend in such a demeaning way, a way that would be considered verbal abuse from anyone else.
There are a few things you can do to shut out that destructive inner voice and replace it with positive encouragement. Try giving yourself a pep talk. Point out (that's right - to yourself) that you're an amazing person on a fascinating journey, on your way to living the life you've always dreamed of. It's also helpful to keep a journal that focuses on your positive traits and triumphs. This will boost your self esteem and personal satisfaction. Keep your journal close at hand and before you go to sleep at night, write 5 positive things about yourself; you'll love how it makes you feel.
Camaraderie can be a real motivator and having an exercise/weight loss buddy can not only keep you centered but make any weight loss effort a lot of fun. At times it just takes having someone there to tell you that they believe in you, that you can do anything, to break out of a self made funk and you can do the same for them. Boot camp fitness programs are also great alternatives. Reputable boot camp training facilities offer everything you could possibly need from nutritional information to fast and efficient weight loss through exercise, and plenty of motivation and support, sure to quiet a negative inner voice.
Most important of all, celebrate your small successes by rewarding yourself, even if it's as simple as a new pair of sports socks. After all, all of us deserve a pat on the back every now and then and you inner voice will love you for it.
