It's also important to consider your natural and artificial light sources. If you have large front windows, are they closed off or blocked by window displays. Remember deep and dark colors tend to absorb light. If you are 'light challenged' look at colors and floor treatments that can brighten and even reflect your existing light.
Your next step is to consider colors that appeal to your clientele. Primary colors are kid friendly. Pastels are often considered feminine, but light blues and greens have a relaxing and calming affect that appeal to both genders. Earth tones are commonly considered masculine colors, but they are also associated with earth-friendly industries. After you think about your potential customers, take some time to think about your product line. Is it modern and cutting edge, if so maybe some neon or bright colors may work. Are your products associated with business or executive interests, if so black trim or accent walls convey a sense of power and strength. If your product line is sexy or sensuous black is still a good choice, but so are metallic, cream, and deep shades of purple, red and pink.
