Malaysian Design Awards Student's Category Points Toward Future reports Interior Designer
Outreach and rehabilitation center takes top prize, cultural center takes second

The rebirth of the Malacca Theater, once malign with deterioration, into an avant-garde five-star homeless center that will provide counseling services is nothing short of a groundbreaking affair.
Dubbed the "awareness Center of Humanity", the building is designed to provide specialized services to the homeless. These services are in hopes of integrated them back into society as efficiently and humanely as possible. The services will hope to provide them with part-time or full-time work in areas they can excel in, or at minimum, gain a foothold in the service industry.
The "Urban House of Traditional Culture" is another design marvel that is centered in a metro area in order to provide learning and recreational facility for Malaysians. Its aim is to broaden awareness of local heritage among the youth, as well as promote the arts and culture of the area.
Each of these projects is equipped with modern designs, and teeming with sustainable features.
The design concept for "Silentine The Architecture Library" whispers of a wholly separate scheme than preserving the past. The futuristic walls contain a wealth of information that pines toward the younger generations, keen to imbue itself with the knowledge of the Malaysian architectural future. Its futuristic and sustainable design allows the library to create a vision that also attracts tourism.
The futuristic "Kuala Lumpur Jetsky Clubhouse" holds a panoramic 360-degree view of the lake and surrounding park, while its Restaurant & Bar" design employees an "opposites attract" feel as its theme. With futuristic-looking restaurant fit for both dining and entertainment.
The top prize of the MIID student category went to 23-year-old graduate from KBU International College in Selangor, Lim Meng Yeu, for the "Awareness Center of Humanity" design.
Silver prize went to Nicholas Foo Kok Ming of the Malaysian Institute of Art in Kuala Lampur, for his "Urban House of Traditional Culture".
