An employer sponsored visa is a visa suitable for any employer in Australia that cannot find employees from the domestic market. It instead enables these employers to hire foreign skilled workers to fill the shortages.
There are two types of visas under the employer sponsored visas--the temporary visa and the permanent visa.
Temporary visa
The Temporary visa, also called Temporary Business Long stay Visa (Subclass 457), is suitable for highly-skilled foreign workers who have been given an offer of sponsorship from a business in Australia. With this visa, the visa holder is provided with a visa vaility of up to four years to work in Australia.
Permanent Visa
The permanent visa has two categories, the ENS Sponsored Permanent (Subclass 186) and the RSMS Sponsored Permanent (Subclass 187).
The permanent visa is also for highly-skilled foreign workers to be employed in specific full-time positions in metropolitan and regional Australian businesses. This is provided that the position cannot be filled by an Australian worker.
