Manhattan Beach, CA (prHWY.com) November 28, 2012 - Manhattan Beach, California (November 20, 2012) - The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network continues its mission of advocacy and education by encouraging people to celebrate Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. They are inviting people to show their solidarity and spread awareness with purple Pancreatic Cancer Shirts. Together, they hope to make a difference by improving the lives of those suffering from the disease and bringing hope to the ones who hold them dear.

Pancreatic Cancer is acknowledged to be the 4th leading cause of death in the United States. For 2012, an estimated 37,930 patients will die from the disease, and roughly 43,920 more will be diagnosed with it. Unfortunately, compared to other cancers, Pancreatic Cancer is one of the few that has not shown significant improvement in patient survivability in the past 40 years. The average life expectancy after being diagnosed with metastatic disease is a short five to seven months.

Coupled with no early detection method, few effective treatment options, and the lack of a cure, this makes research, education, and support more important than ever.

November has been recognized worldwide as Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and the charity encourages people to show their support for the movement by donning purple any way they can. Their online store carries a wide range of apparel, accessories and other pancreatic cancer gifts to bring people together in the fight against the disease. Proceeds from the purchases will be used towards helping the organization increase awareness and fund research towards a cure.
