Columbus, Georgia, GA (prHWY.com) December 5, 2012 - Michael Lydiate, teacher, professor, and coach, is pleased to announce that he has recently been certified by the American Red Cross in the instruction of CPR and First Aid. A professional health instructor, Michael Lydiate contends that this certification will help him offer more well-rounded emergency response education, and help others get their own certifications.

"Emergency response and first aid are a crucial, but often overlooked, part of health education," said Michael Lydiate. "I'm honored to be counted among the American Red Cross' instructors, and I hope that I can use this certification to make emergency response skills more prevalent among my community and the students that I teach."

A long time teacher of health and fitness education as well as a high school soccer coach, Michael Lydiate posits that training in emergency response, including CPR and basic first aid, is crucial for not only those involved in athletics, like coaches, but for all educators. "You never know what could come up in a classroom situation," said Michael Lydiate. "Being prepared is the best solution to any health or medical problem that can come up - even a college professor can have a student have a sudden medical problem in their class, and being aware of just basic first response techniques can have a huge impact on the outcome for that student."

Michael Lydiate has the experience to speak from. Working in education since 1996, Michael Lydiate has worked in various aspects of education related to health, fitness, and physical education. Starting out as an elementary physical education teacher, Michael Lydiate moved on to become a health improvement instructor, assistant athletic director, and health and fitness curriculum specialist with the Muscogee County School Distrisct, where he was also a high school soccer coach. Since receiving further education, Michael Lydiate has become a professor of exercise science and sports fitness management at Troy University and the University of Phoenix. As a CPR and First Aid instructor, Michael Lydiate hopes to integrate units on responding to medical emergencies in educational and athletic settings into his exercise science department classes, and help raise awareness about the need for such instruction in schools.
