Veterinary Internal Medicine
The term 'internal medicine' has German origins and the concept clubs together patient care with science of the laboratory, while geriatric medicine is its underlying branch that deals with healthcare for the elderly.

The term Veterinary Internal Medicine originates from the German term Innere Medizin, popularized in Germany in the late 19th century to refer to practitioners who combined the science of the laboratory along with the cure of several diseases in patients. This was brought to the US in the next century by medical professors from Germany.
Students specializing in internal medicine are trained to take care of ergometrics, evaluation of prognosis, biochemical and haematological examinations; radionucleotide examinations and other behaviours with respect to shock, respiratory and renal failure.
Internal medicine is branched into specialized training in angiology, diabetology, disorders of metabolism and nutrition, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hepatology, infectology, cardiology, clinical biochemistry, geriatrics, and allergology, clinical oncology, nephrology, pneumonology and ftizeology; in addition to haematology and transfusology. The catheterisation and puncture of bladder is also connected with the internal medicine. Several other methodologies are also involved like an exercise perfused by thallium, gamma radiography of myocardium, and isotope nephrography.
The discipline involves several approaches like cardio-pulmo-cerebral resuscitation, insertion of nasogastric tube, and several other instruments for determining fixation of disease. Internal medicine procedures involve curative measures for failure of internal organs like lungs, heart, kidneys and others.
The career in internal medicine differs from other disciplines. Following completion of entry-level training, newly graduated medical practitioners are often required to undertake a period of supervised practice, before the license is finally issued in one or two years of internship. The doctors might then pursue specialty training, according to demands of the profession and job requirements.
