xahida, Uruguay (prHWY.com) December 11, 2012 - A New York judge says a settlement has been reached in the lawsuit filed against former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn by a hotel maid who accused him of sexual assault.

The judge announced the deal Monday, at a hearing on settlement negotiations between the sides.

Strauss-Kahn, a French economist and politician, was arrested in May 2011 after the hotel maid, Nafissatou Diallo, accused him of assaulting her when she went to clean his room at a luxury New York hotel. Prosecutors later dropped the criminal charges against Strauss-Kahn, saying Diallo would not be a credible witness.
