However, as soon as these five years elapse, you will need to apply for a Resident Return Visa if you wish to depart from and re-enter Australia as a Permanent Resident.
The Resident Return Visa is a permanent visa intended for former or current Australian permanent residents and former Australian citizens. If it has been 5 years since your permanent residency has been granted that you hold a resident return visa to gain entry back into the country.
