Local Thrift Stores Help Budget Brides Plan Wedding
It can cost a lot of money to host a wedding. A recent survey conducted by Bridal Galore Magazine suggested that the average wedding in the United States cost approximately $25,000.

"I read the results of the survey and really thought there had to be a typo", said Samuel Higgins. "When I got married 40 years ago, the wedding cost maybe $4,000. It's hard to imagine that brides feel so compelled to spend so much on weddings. I want to help brides that don't want to spend that much."
Samuel Higgins recently decided to open up a series of thrift stores that would offer brides-to-be everything they could want or need for their wedding. The stores would be viewed almost as a one-stop shop.
"My goal was to make it easy for brides on a budget", said Higgins. "I didn't want them to have to feel as if they couldn't walk down the aisle because they weren't spending a fortune on their wedding."
The Bridal Budget Boutique is a thrift store filled with everything a bride could ever want or need. There is an entire section filled with thousands of wedding dresses. Another section is filled with other bridal items, such as centerpieces, decorations, bridesmaid dresses, and outdoor décor.
"We have everything a bride could really want for her wedding", said Higgins. "If she wants to have an outdoor wedding, we have all the items to make that happen. If she wants an elegant indoor wedding, she can find those items here too."
The Bridal Budget Boutique is able to offer a variety of items at discounted prices for a number of reasons. Samuel Higgins works with many retails to purchase older, outdated items that might still be considered 'in style'. Samuel Higgins also provides many items that have been used previously by other brides and that can be re-used for other weddings.
"We take donations from brides after their wedding", said Higgins. "This allows us to offer the items for a lower price than we might otherwise be able to offer people."
Samuel Higgins plans on expanding his thrift stores to include floral arrangements, as many brides wanted live flowers in their bouquet.
"I am working with local gardeners to help brides afford live floral bouquets", said Higgins. "It will take some time, but I think it would be a great addition to our thrift store. We'll have to see what pans out, but it's something to think about."
