Covina, CA (
prHWY.com) December 19, 2012 - I really like the PS3 Sixaxis. I'm still waiting for a game to take advantage of the motion-sensing features--I have high hopes for Lair in that regard--but even without tilting like crazy while playing a game it's pretty easy on my hands. I've held the Dual Shock controller in all it's incarnations for more years than I want to admit. Still, the controller has a few issues, but there are no decent third-party alternatives so far. Destructoid was able to get their hands on Nyko's Zero
ps3 controller for the PS3, and I'm intrigued by their findings: the controller is heavier, comes with a rechargeable battery pack as well as a battery pack that uses two AA batteries just in case. Judging by this report it looks like Nyko was able to make the controller wireless by adding a dongle to the package instead of using the built-in Bluetooth.?
My opinion? Daddy like. I'm bad about charging my Sixaxis, and it seems to crap out right when I'm in the middle of a spirited run at Gripshift or Gran Turismo HD, and the USB cable won't reach my couch once it's plugged in. Having a battery backup available in the case of such an emergency would make me very happy indeed. I'm going to wait until I can wrap my hands around one of these to make sure I like the feel before dropping $50 on one, but I'm interested enough that I'll be looking for this in the coming weeks.?
