How to clay bar
Step one - jet wash the vehicle to remove all surface dust, then using a traffic film remover (TFR) spray the front of the vehicle. Rub the product in to remove all insects and other contaminates on the surface of the paintwork. Rinse the vehicle with water to remove any excess TRF.
Step two - Spray tar and glue remover on the bottom half of the vehicle, leave for one to two minutes. Then rub the product to remove any tar and glue and rinse with water.
Step Three - Wash the vehicle using a high quality shampoo and rinse to ensure vehicle is free from products.
Step Four - break of a small piece of the clay bar and roll into a small ball warming it up in the palm of your hands, once it is warm flatten the ball out. Spray a 30cm x 30cm area with your chosen clay lubricant and spray the piece of flattened out clay bar on one side, rub the sprayed side onto the surface of the vehicle. Keep rubbing the area until the surface feel smooth then move on to the next section, carry on until the whole vehicle is complete. The glass can also be done in the same way. Throughout the process keep folding over the clay bar using a fresh surface on each section.
Step Five - Rinse the vehicle with water and dry the vehicle with a drying towel (such as a micro fibre).
Step Six - choose a high quality carnauba wax, then cover the vehicle with the product using a waxing sponge. Leave for 15 minutes to allow the carnauba to soak into the paintwork, then buff off the wax with a high quality micro fibre cloth. This will leave a high gloss shine all over the vehicle.
Step Seven - spray the windows and mirrors with glass polish and buff off.
Step Eight - dressing the tyres using tyre dressing, this will give the tyres and clean shine and make the wheels stand out.
Step Nine - using back to black apply to all plastic using a cloth and rub it in, this will refresh all dull and faded plastics.
Once these steps are completed your vehicle paintwork will free from contaminates and will help prevent further damage being caused. Mobile valeting Wakefield would advice you to clay bar your vehicle twice a year, wax monthly and wash weekly. Following this advice you will add years onto the life of the paintwork and this in turn will help retain the value of the vehicle.
