Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) December 19, 2012 - People stand a better chance of winning the lottery than getting hit on the head by a meteor, but for one man in Iowa he beat the odds. Harry Simon was hit on the head by a falling meteor.

"The odds of getting hit in the head are like one in a billion", said Harry Simon. "There I was walking down the street and boom it just hit me on the head. I couldn't believe it at first, but when they told me at the hospital I was hit on the head by a meteor I didn't know what to do. It is sort of odd."

The meteor fall resulted in Harry Simon's inability to work. He filed the appropriate paperwork for SSI disability and was shockingly denied any benefits.

"I was shocked", explained Harry Simon. "There I was with over five different doctors telling me that it was a miracle that I could even walk or talk, and there the government is telling me that I am not disabled enough to get benefits. I was outraged."

Harry Simon tried a second time for SSI disability and was denied a second time. It was on his third attempt and almost three years later that he decided to hire a local SSI disability attorney.

"I figured I wasn't going to get the aid I needed without the help of an attorney", explained Harry Simon. "I figured I wasn't getting any better, I was unable to work. I deserved those benefits."

The attorney that was placed on the case was able to help secure Harry Simon a trial in front of the SSI disability approval board. The board was able to meet to discuss Harry Simon's case and determine if he would be awarded SSI disability benefits.

"The main problem with this case was that the board just simply didn't believe that a meteor caused the damage", explained the lawyer in a statement. "This rare occurrence made the board really think something was up. We were able to present the facts to the board and he was awarded the benefits that he deserves."

After all the problems caused by this falling meteor, people may wonder where it is. The meteor in question sits proudly on Harry Simon's mantle.

"I was able to take it home after it hit my head", explained Simon. "The EMTs packed it up so it could be studied. After it was studied it was given back to me. I figure it's a unique decoration so why not keep it."
