Doncaster, United Kingdom (prHWY.com) December 21, 2012 - In an unprecedented move for London's West End, a dedicated autism-friendly showing will take place on Sunday 14th April 2013 at the Lyceum Theatre.

Disney will be working closely with The National Autistic Society in order to make the performance absolutely perfect for those with Autism and their families. Adjustments are being made to ensure the atmosphere is friendly and supportive for everyone involved. Most notably:

- The theatre's foyer will have designated quiet and activity areas created. These will be staffed by autism experts. This is in case anyone wants to leave their seats during the performance.

- The reduction of jarring sounds or strobe lighting facing the audience will be incorporated - there will be other slight adjustments made.

- The cast of The Lion King, along with Lyceum Theatre box office and front of house staff will be given training to understand the needs of an audience of children and adults with autism, and their families and friends.

- A dedicated website and booking system has been set up specifically for the performance.

Mark Lever, chief executive of the National Autistic Society said of the venture; "Autism is a serious, lifelong disability and the challenges the condition brings can make it difficult to enjoy activities, such as trips to the theatre that many people take for granted. Making adjustments and training staff can make a huge difference."
"We are delighted to be working with The Walt Disney Company on this landmark performance, making

The Lion King accessible to more people than ever before. This will be an amazing day out for people with autism and their families."

Hesley Group have two specialist autism schools and offer a range of adult residential support services for those affected by the condition - to see exactly what they offer just click this link - http://www.hesleygroup.co.uk/schools-and-children/
