12 HOURS OF MOHAMMED RAFI - A MUSICAL NIRVANA

It was surely a record of sorts at the Rang Sharda Auditorium this Xmas eve, as Mohammed Rafi fans from all over the country gathered for a marathon 12 hour, non stop concert of Mohammed Rafi songs.

Mumbai, India (prHWY.com) December 25, 2012 - It was surely a record of sorts at the Rang Sharda Auditorium this Xmas eve, as Mohammed Rafi fans from all over the country gathered for a marathon 12 hour, non stop concert of Mohammed Rafi songs. This spectacular effort was a initiative of Spandan Arts, a NGO, headed by Advocate Ashish Shelar, Member of legislative Council (MLC) .

Gopinath Munde, Honourable MP and former Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra was the chief guest on this memorable occasion. Veteran Radio Jockey Amin Sayani was conferred with the prestigious Mohammed Rafi award amidst the thunderous applause of the packed audience at the Rang Sharda auditorium. Late Music Director Naushad was also honoured with this award and the same was accepted by his son Raju Naushad. Shahid Rafi, son of Mohammed Rafi graced the occasion along with his wife Firdaus. Pinkey Ahluwalia, Honourable Vice Consul of Belgium was accompanied by her mother and Umaesh Pherwani. Also spotted was Nasreen, daughter of Mohammed rafi, who was in high spirits right through the evening


Shrikant Narayan and troupe regaled the audience with the most popular hits of Mohammed Rafi that included 'Oh Haseena Zulfon wali Jaane Jaha' , ' Parda Hai, Parda hai', ' Yeh Duniya Mil Jaye' and many other Rafi chartbusters. Gopinath Munde observed that despite a thrilling Indo - Pak cricket encounter coinciding with this musical concert, the audience had chosen Mohammed Rafi over cricket and that indeed was a true tribute to the musical genius of Mohammed Rafi. Advocate Ashish Shelar stated that he was indeed pleasantly surprised by a phone call he received from an enthusiastic Rafi fan at 8 am this morning who had gathered information about the concert from her friend in Australia. Raju Naushad, son of late music Director Naushad observed that his father felt that Rafi was probably the most versatile singer the country had ever produced .

Amin Sayani fondly recollected his moments with Mohammed Rafi during the good old days and emphasized that above all Mohammed Rafi was a great human being and a philanthropist. Bhai Jagtap, MLC, also made his presence felt at this prestigious event. The temperature and tempo rised further as the evening progressed with the entire audience on it's feet grooving to Mohammed Rafi songs .
