Jennifer Jankauskas Celebrates 2011 Teacher of the Year Success

(prHWY.com) December 28, 2012 - Hoschton, GA -- Jennifer Jankauskas is pleased to announce that she continues to celebrate having won the 2011 Creekland Middle School Teacher of the Year Award. The award is bestowed every year to the teacher that students and other faculty believes to exhibit the best qualities that a teacher should have.

Many guidelines and requirements are a part of the selection process to ensure that the award is not the result of a mere popularity contest. Rather, nominees must be capable of presenting themselves as viable and worthy candidates both in and outside the classroom.

"I'm still a little giddy about having received that award," commented Jennifer Jankauskas, who is an English writing teacher at the middle school. "It's a great honor, and an honor that encourages me to continue to step up to the plate and do my very best each and every day of this 2012-2013 school year."

2011 is not the first year that Jennifer Jankauskas was considered for the award. In 2008, Jennifer Jankauskas was a Teacher of the Year finalist at Creekland Middle School, and in 2009, she was a nominee.

In addition to receiving the prestigious award in 2011, Jennifer Jankauskas was also a semi-finalist for the 2011 Teacher of the Year Gwinnett County Public Schools. As a candidate for this award, Jennifer Jankauskas was one of 25 eligible candidates out of 11,000 teachers.

"To me, that's still staggering," commented Jennifer Jankauskas. "I really have a hard time, looking back, and believing I made it that far. There was a banquet that November that I attended, and it was truly one of the most beautiful and inspiring ceremonies I ever had the honor of attending. I would love to make it back to that level sometime, but, in a way, I feel like that would be asking for two holes-in-one!"

Having been in the Gwinnett County Public School System since 1998, Jennifer Jankauskas has more reasons than a long history to be eligible for a future award. Currently, Jennifer Jankauskas is leading the Collins Hill Vertical Writing Team in the Collins Hill School Cluster. The institute, which is designed for 120 5th grade students, teaches writing skills on Saturday mornings in January and February.
