(prHWY.com) January 18, 2013 - USA, AL -- USA, Jan 18, 2013 - Three score and ten years ago, across the Atlantic, on the shore of the Baltic Sea my grandmother taught me to knit during a particularly nasty air raid. The air raid was meant to destroy the city of Liepaja in Latvia. One of the Baltic States, the middle one. The one I was born in. The thought was learning this craft of knitting would keep my mind off the noise, devastation and keep me from thinking of how scared I was. I have been knitting ever since.

Ice Hockey Sweater - The coats displayed here are my original design. Crafted from natural fiber of mohair and wool. Wool is grown and spun in the U.S.A. Mohair is English produced. Everything is hand knitted. Done on circular needles so as to create a garment in one piece with the only seem being on the sides, the garment is placed overhead. This is so that not a bit of cold or wind can penetrate this coat. The colors are chosen predominantly from nature. Sharp reds, greens, gold, brown with some purples and pinks thrown in for good measure. The mohair garment is done in double strand therefore feels and looks like fur. No outer clothing is necessary when wearing this coat. These coats produce in the wearer, the feeling of being in an oven. The wool contains a great deal of lanolin therefore moisture does not penetrate the garment.

Turn around time for a garment is three weeks, shipping within the continental USA is free by Priority Mail. Customers pay for shipping anywhere else in the world.

Hockey jerseys today are colorful banners for their respective teams. The symbols of regions and concepts adorn these works of art as the player dashes across the ice and play with the puck. They come in all shapes and sizes now, with countless types and styles. Some of them are shorter, resting on the hem on the hip, some of them are longer and need to be tucked in to one side of the pant or both.

Handknit Adirondack Sweater - Teams have a minimum of four different variations of their own hockey jerseys to choose from. For home games today most teams will have a dark jersey. For away games the teams will wear a lighter or white jersey. For special occasions it is common for teams to wear alternate jerseys that have completely different patterns, icons, and color schemes. Present day teams also might choose to wear what they call retro jerseys to pay homage to their veteran team mates of the past.
