Yearbook Manufacturer Takes Leap into Online App Development

(prHWY.com) January 22, 2013 - Seattle, WA -- There's no denying that today's youth is surrounded by all types of technology. They carry their cellphones around everywhere, they are on social media sites for hours a day, and they constantly play video games. This constant connection to technology has encouraged a local yearbook manufacturer to take a leap into the world of online app development.

"Today's high school students aren't living in the same world that high school students of ten, twenty years ago are", explained Mike Logan, owner of Yearly Yearbooks. "I wanted to develop something that would make the kids of today feel connected to the high school that they attended. What better way to do that than to develop an online app."

Mike Logan worked with a local online app developer to create what would incorporate some of the best features of a yearbook into an app. This app could be easily downloaded to any tablet, smartphone or computer.

"When I started creating the app I thought I would want to make a virtual yearbook", explained Logan. "I tried that and didn't really like it. I tossed around a few ideas and finally I came up with an idea - games that would allow me to access features like a yearbook, but have the fun of playing a game."

The idea behind the app is that Yearly Yearbooks would create a variety of customized and personalized games for each high school. Students would be able to play games that feature some of their favorite moments from high school and even include several photos of classmates.

"One of my newest games I just developed is a yearbook slot machine", explained Logan. "These students can play games that feature their classmates. They earn fake coins that can then be spent in the virtual store."

The virtual store is where most of the yearbook items appear. Students can purchase pictures of their favorite high school clubs, photos of friends, and even download videos of their favorite high school events.

This virtual yearbook app is thought to be the first of its kind. There are already several schools lined up to try this feature with their students.

"I think this online app would work great", explained Logan. "It allows students to have fun, while building a customized yearbook that they really want to keep looking at. Of course, regular yearbooks would still be offered, but this allows students to have fun and really connect with their former high school through technology."
