World's Largest Pillow Fight between International Travelers to Occur at Group of Vancouver Airport Hotels
Thousands of down and feather pillows are being purchased in anticipation of the world's largest pillow fight between international travelers.
(prHWY.com) January 22, 2013 - Seattle, WA -- Thousands of down and feather pillows are being purchased in anticipation of the world's largest pillow fight between international travelers. The pillow fight is scheduled to be held sometime in April and it will be between international travelers who are flying into the Vancouver area.
"We thought that this would be a great way to encourage international travel to the Vancouver area", said a representative for the Vancouver Tourist Association.
"We have a very healthy international travel population, but during the month of April it tends to slow down. This is a great way to get people to come to the area."
The Vancouver Tourist Association has teamed up with a group of
local Vancouver airport hotels to host this event. The travelers will be required to stay in one of the airport hotels and will convene in the convention center of the hotels to participate in the event.
"There is a lot of organization that is required for an event of this nature", said the representative. "We need to make sure there is a way to check that all people who are participating are international travelers. We also need to provide the supplies and the venue."
The Tourist Association has contacted the Guinness Book of World Records and even invited several TV stations from all over the world to capture this event. A representative from Guinness will be present to oversee the events.
"We will be sending a representative to the area to see if there is a chance that the world record could be broken", said Guinness Book of World Records. "There are several records that could be broken. One of them is largest pillow fight between international travelers; another is largest gathering of down-filled pillows. We will just have to see what happens."
There are currently over 2,000 international travelers who have signed up for the event. Registration will not close until the first day of April. That leaves plenty of time for people who are interested to sign up for the event.
"I think this will be a fun, exciting day for everyone involved", said Terri Underhill, an international traveler. "I can't wait to see what happens and how it all turns out. Even if the world record isn't broken it will still be a fun event and something I will tell my kids when they grow up that I took part in."
