IMT Ghaziabad: IMT-Grenoble DBA getting good response from professionals: Dr Bibek Banerjee

Q: Tell us about the doctor in business administration (DBA) you are offering jointly with Grenoble Ecole de Management, France. What role does this program play in the Indian MBA education scenario?

The Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) offered by IMT-Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM), France, is a practice-oriented and research-based doctoral degree. Being a globally-acclaimed and recognized degree, the DBA will equip its graduates with opportunities internationally, both in the world of practice as well as in the academics.

The DBA recognizes innovative and solutions-focused theory building of real business challenges/opportunities and problems. It is structured in a manner that it will enable middle and senior executives to leverage their practical experiences towards creating a rigorous and research-based knowledge pool that would have the power to cater to the needs of the industry and academia.

The DBA is one of the only eight programs in the world to be accredited & authorized by AMBA, UK. This DBA, almost 20-year-old with an alumni base of nearly 150 across the globe, is currently offered in five countries: France, the US, China, Switzerland and Lebanon.

This program will be delivered by renowned senior faculty drawn from the best institutions from France, India & other parts of the globe.

This DBA will help bridge the huge faculty gap that the country's management institutes are grappling with. Besides generating suitable faculty for B-Schools, this DBA will open up new opportunities. A person with a DBA can go to academia as well as business/industry anywhere in the world.

Q: What are the common grounds between IMT Ghaziabad and GEM?

Q: What are the criteria of getting enrolled in DBA?

Admission requirements for the DBA are:

* Candidates should have or are expected to hold a master degree a recognized university.
* Candidates should also have management experience of at least 3 years pre- or post-master's.
* The DBA workshops are conducted in English. Students whose first language is not English or who have not already studied successfully in an English-speaking environment will be required to provide evidence of advanced proficiency in English.
* GMAT

Q: After getting DBA degree, will pass-outs be considered as faculty at various B schools?

DBA alumni, besides several opportunities, have two clear options:

* A change in their career towards more responsible position such as deans, director, or head of institutions &/universities.
* A shift towards an academic position in a recognized or accredited institution.

Both of these opportunities are available across the globe.

Holders of Grenoble Ecole de Management doctoral degrees are eligible to apply for academic positions in most international universities and institutions of higher education. Many alumni from GEM doctoral programs currently hold tenured positions in accredited business schools worldwide.
