Zaeem Mahmood Ranked Best Batsman at Purdue University
Although his team didn't make it to the finals of the Purdue University Cricket League Indoor Mania tournament, Zaeem Mahmood remained at the top of the rankings and was named Best Batsman of the league.
(prHWY.com) February 8, 2013 - Chicago, IL -- Zaeem Mahmood is proud to announce that he took home the title of Best Batsman of the Purdue University Cricket league, beating out his nearest competitor by over forty runs.
"I'm extremely pleased to have seen all of my hard work pay off this season," remarked Zaeem Mahmood, who has consistently been a star player on the Trojans. "I was disappointed that the Trojans didn't make it further into the finals, but I think we all performed well and ultimately, I'm honored to be named Best Batsman."
Zaeem Mahmood led the standings with a total of 159 runs, with an average of 22.7 runs in each match. His biggest match of the Indoor Mania season was a Saints v Trojans competition, which ultimately proved to be the Trojans' undoing. Zaeem Mahmood scored a total of 53 runs in the match, contributing over half of the Trojans' end score of 95.
Unfortunately, Zaeem Mahmood alone could not bring the Trojans to victory, and a combination of a sad show of bowling for the Trojans and a number of Saints players who excelled at bat wound up spelling the end of the Trojans' season.
"It was a bittersweet way to go out for sure," commented Zaeem Mahmood on the loss, which took the Trojans out of the running for the championship. "On one hand, I played my best match of the year, but on the other, it signaled the end of our run. But the Saints were very good competition, and I do wish them luck in the finals."
Zaeem Mahmood's position as Best Batsman comes as no surprise. A cricket player since his youth, Zaeem Mahmood has been honing his batting skills for years. He's also a fair hand at racket sports, no doubt due to his practice at cricket. In addition to being a member of the Purdue University Cricket League on the Trojans, Zaeem Mahmood also plays for the Purdue badminton and squash teams.
"While I may be sitting out the next few rounds of cricket, I am excited to get to spend a bit more time practicing badminton and squash," said Zaeem Mahmood. He looks forward to another successful round of cricket matches once the outdoor season begins.
