(prHWY.com) February 11, 2013 - Rancho Santa Fe, CA -- Its 38,000-square-foot clubhouse, which teems with elegance despite its simple style, was designed by renowned architect Robert Altevers. It features a dining area and provides a magnificent view of the course. The clubhouse serves breakfast and lunch from Tuesday to Saturday and holds casual dinners every Friday from June to August. It can also serve as venue for parties, as the club occasionally hosts themed events and holiday celebrations.
The Farms is the only exclusively-for-golf san diego country club, as it does not have swimming pools, tennis courts, and spas. Built in 1988, the club was originally designed by Pete, Perry, and Alice Dye with assistance from golfing great Tommy Jacobs.
After The Farms was purchased by its members in 1999, the course was remodeled in 2000 under the guidance of architect John Fought and his associate, PGA Tour professional Tom Lehman. They sought to improve the layouts of the fairways and greens, which turned out to be both challenging and fair to players of all skill levels.
"The Farms is one of the most demanding courses off the tee in Southern California," PGA Tour champion Phil Mickelson once told the Southern California Golf Association. "When I'm preparing for a major tournament, and really want to test my driver, I come to The Farms."
