(prHWY.com) February 13, 2013 - Saint Louis, IL -- Ever since he was just five years old, David Lafko has enjoyed playing the sport of hockey. Hockey is one of the few sports to be played not on grass or dirt, but on a sheet of ice. Players are required to wear ice skates, a helmet, shoulder pads and a lot of other protective gear, as the sport of hockey can be very dangerous. David Lafko loves working with a team to achieve a common goal between all of the teammates. David Lafko really enjoys the position of goalie while playing hockey. The goalie is responsible for guarding the net that the opposing team attempts to shoot the puck into.

David Lafko has watched National Hockey League games for as long as he has been playing hockey. Hockey is one of the only sports to allow fighting within the sport. At any time, two players from opposing teams can take off their hockey gloves and proceed to fight each other. Normally the officials will not allow the fights to go on for too long, but people do get hurt. "Hockey is a very dangerous game, but can also be rewarding, fun and exciting" says David Lafko. David Lafko's favorite team in the National Hockey League is the Pittsburgh Penguins. Growing up, David Lafko loved watching players such as Mario Lemieux and Jamir Jagr play the great sport of hockey.

David Lafko also enjoys playing street hockey with people in his neighborhood. All you need are some roller blades, some hockey sticks or brooms, and a couple of trash cans or nets to act as the goal. It is very easy to play a small pickup game of street hockey with as little as six people (3 vs. 3). Obviously, bigger games can become more competitive and more fun. David Lafko really loves playing street hockey with ten people total, 5 vs. 5. David Lafko says, "Hockey is a great sport to play and build you teamwork skills with. Communication is paramount when working with a team, so always keep an open line of communication with your fellow teammates!" says David Lafko.
