Kirkwood Knittery Brings Internationally-Known Designer/Author to St. Louis
Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton, a world-renowned designer, teacher, and author will be on the first of March conducting an exclusive Hands-On Workshop at Kirkwood Knittery
(prHWY.com) February 18, 2013 - St. Louis, MO -- St. Louis, Missouri - Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton, a world-renowned designer, teacher, and author will be conducting an exclusive workshop at Kirkwood Knittery (
http://www.KirkwoodKnittery.com) March 1st. The workshop, "Reflections" will be held from 2:00-5:00pm and costs just $65 which includes Hamilton's newest book of patterns--also named Reflections.
Hamilton will also be signing copies of her book and answering questions from 6:00-8:00pm. The book signing and question/answer session is open to the public, as well as to workshop attendees.
"With every new book that I do I try to include new techniques for my knitting audience...this one is no exception with five distinct stitch patterns used in six ways!" said Hamilton.
Hamilton is known for developing and using innovative techniques such as multi-directional stitching and self-striping yarns to create a knitted fabric with a woven appearance.
Reflections will inspire new and veteran stitchers with ten poetically-inspired and aptly-named patterns including "Dickinson," "Whitman," and "Angelou," for sweaters, accessories, and even a computer case. Workshop participants will learn zigzag shortrowing, an allover buttonhole stitch, two different patterns with chevrons, surface weaving, slip stitching for texture and lattice cabling.
Brooke Nico, co-owner of Kirkwood Knittery invites everyone who loves the art of stitching to the hands-on workshop, "We're so excited to bring a knitwear designer of Cornelia's caliber to St. Louis. Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton

There are painters and crafters on both sides of her family, but Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton has applied her talent in combining colors and structure to designing handknits.


Hamilton's artistic background began in her childhood and she started selling her creations in her mid-teens. A true multi-crafter she is proficient at embroidery, macramé and crochet but finally settled on handknitting at the age of 22. Her knitting career started in New York where she developed her talent during the early 80's. There she designed for the knitting magazines and a private clientele as well as sold her handknits to better boutiques in Manhattan. The high point of her time in NY was a handknit collection under her own label that was sold to select boutiques in 20 states from Florida to Alaska.


The move over the Atlantic to Mariefred, Sweden gave her the peace and harmony to raise a family and develop her business and artistic creativity even further. Cornelia has written numerous articles on Swedish knitters and knitting. She has 12 pattern books to her name, including Noro: Meet the Man was published by Soho Publishing in the fall of 2009. A new booklet, Reflections, featuring the Poems Collection from Universal Yarn was released in August.
