(prHWY.com) February 26, 2013 - Mumbai, India -- Mumbai, 25, February 2013: The IMC Ladies Wing (LW) Legal Council Cell's SWABHIMAAN series organized a workshop on legal justice, which had Mr. Satish Manshinde, Criminal Lawyer, as the Guest Speaker, who spoke on the delay in the dispensation of justice is the root cause of rise in the crime against women.

The Indian Merchants' Chamber (IMC) has been established more than 100 years ago with social and economic goals for the development of commerce and society. The IMC Ladies Wing addresses various social issues that are relevant to women. With a view to further strengthen the activities of the IMC Ladies Wing and to propagate legal awareness, the LW is establishing a Legal Aid Cell to undertake the following events.

Mr. Satish Manshinde, Criminal Lawyer, expressed, "education for women is important". Also, he said there is lack of judges and there is going to be increase in the number of judges, which at present is 18,000 and will increase to 30,000 in 5 years time. The reason women don't approach the police is because most of them are badly behaved, and families don't want to get exposed due to unnecessary publicity."

Ms. Darshana M Doshi, President, Ladies Wing of IMC commented that "Ladies Wing has come to the assistance of women by offering free Legal Consultation for various issues - Property matters, Child custody, Streedhan,Maintenance of Children, Maintenance of the wife/live-in partner, Registration of marriage, Contractual obligations, Domestic Violence, Taxation, Divorce, Trade Marks and copyright issues, Marital inheritance, Sexual harassment and gender bias, Immigration and nationality issues, Housing Cooperative Societies and related matters, Society Nominations, etc."
A woman is often relegated to exercising her power or will within the four walls of her home, no matter what her caste, creed, religion, or status in society. Many of them submit to the will of the man in her life by choice and sometimes by compulsion. The IMC Ladies Wing seeks to extend a helping hand to help such ladies recognize and exercise their rights with the support of a panel of legal experts who will provide initial guidance and if required direct them to the right legal counsel.
