(prHWY.com) March 3, 2013 - Delhi, India -- (Press Release, March 3nd, 2013): Andhra Citizens ready to greet visitors at their doorsteps literally and figuratively - Department of Tourism Government of Andhra Pradesh is Inviting Prospective Hosts for Home Stay Bed & Breakfast Scheme
This is indeed a welcome decision and Andhra Pradesh is just the latest to join the band wagon. The scheme is possibly triggered by the fact that Andhra Pradesh is poised to witness an upswing in tourist arrivals, both domestic and international due to the establishment of excellent tourism infrastructure and sustained promotional activities. The tourist arrivals are expected to increase demand for suitable accommodation & facilities to cater to the tourists' requirements. For this purpose, the Department of Tourism is identifying "Home Stays" to bring Tourists and Hosts families together. This has a number of spinoff benefits, reasonable accommodation to the tourist, involvement of the community, inclusive growth and imbibing heritage and culture, notwithstanding cuisine, opportunity for the visitor. While Andhra has some of the most visited places in the country such as Tirupati and Hyderabad, its tourist potential is currently underutilized with various delights such as 'Araku Valley', Rushikonda Beach, Thousand Pillar Temple, Kalahasti Temple, Kuchipudi dance form, Bidri Art etc remain relatively little known and this scheme can help bring these and such other delights closer to the discerning and exploring traveler.
This is a win all situation for the locals, the visitors and the state as Vacation rentals of furnished homes, whether modest flats or expansive villas, offer a more private and economical holiday for a growing number of travelers, local people get involved due to flexibility in rental arrangement as regards duration and also part property rental possibility, inclusion of associated service providers such as guides, cooks, drivers, equipment rental providers, skill teachers etc.
Homestays in India, Bed and Breakfast and the
vacation rental concept is just picking up in India. Kerala, Goa, Karnataka, Himachal, Delhi and Rajasthan have the most rentals; Goa, Delhi and Himachal have around 500-600 listings each. "It looks like vacation rentals will fare better with domestic tourists whereas homestays will fare better with foreigners as in the Other Home experience foreigners like homestays to get an authentic Indian cultural experience whereas the domestic traveller is more attuned to travelling in groups and creating their own experiences" says Dr Aggarwal of The Other Home.
Under this scheme, people can register with our Department and submit a list of their accommodation facility and preferences for visitors who can be charged a reasonable fee for their stay. Registration can be made through a prescribed application form along with Demand Draft of Rs.200/- towards Registration in favor of "The Director of Tourism" Hyderabad.
