Velopi goes another step further to help you prepare for the PMP exam by sharing some new tips about the questions on the PMP exam.
(prHWY.com) March 14, 2013 - Cork, Ireland -- Although simulated tests are very useful to prepare for the PMP exam, there are some simple tips that will help anyone stay focused and improve their chances of making correct answer choices. Refer to these tips and tricks. Incorporate and practice using them when taking simulated practice tests.
* Memorize all formulas, especially the Earned Value and PERT. You will need them during the course of the test.
* For the PMP exam you have only 80 seconds for each question. If you do not know the answer of a question quickly, mark it and move on and revisit it later if you have time.
* Use the process of elimination. When you do a simulated test, practice eliminating the completely implausible options first.
* There is no penalty for guessing, so do not leave any questions blank.
* There will be situations where you have no idea what the question is really asking. Make an educated guess to select the most appropriate option.
* Always answer questions based on the PMBOK concepts first, and then consider your own experience. PMBOK concepts take precedence over your own experience.
* You should assume that lessons learned and historical databases are available for the purposes of this exam.
* Roles and responsibilities need to be properly defined.
* Some questions on the test contain extra information. This information is irrelevant and has no bearing on the correct answer. Knowing some questions contain irrelevant information is helpful. Watch out for misleading questions and don't feel obligated to use all of the information provided to answer the question. Focus only on the information you need to answer the question.
* The correct answer option may not be grammatically correct.
* Look for choices that represent special cases. These choices tend to be correct and are characterized by words such as often, sometimes, may, generally, and perhaps.
* Remember that for any exam question there is only one correct answer. Your need to select the most appropriate answer. There may be choices that are true statements but are not relevant.
* On this test the PMI perspective of project management counts the most. Answer all questions from a PMI perspective and not from your personal experience.
* Questions that contain words like always, never, must, or completely represent generalizations. Be careful when you see answers containing any of those words. Most often such answers represent incorrect choices.
* Remember that the PMI perspective focuses on being proactive. Answer situational questions from the perspective of being proactive. "What would a proactive PM do in this situation?"
