Animal Shelter Services, an Arizona-based company dedicated to helping animal shelters operate more efficiently and effectively, today announced that it is offering six scholarships to provide financial assistance for organizations needing an organizational assessment. An organizational assessment, commonly referred to as a shelter evaluation, is a comprehensive review of an animal shelter/animal control's entire operations. The goal of an organizational assessment is to identify an organization's weaknesses and threats then provide recommendations to address them and get the shelter or agency using industry best practices. The assessment examines a myriad of areas and compares them to industry best practices to determine an organization's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
This is the third consecutive year that Animal Shelter Services has offered scholarships to animal shelter agencies to be used for an organizational assessment. A total of six $2,500-scholarships will be awarded -one in each time zone (Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, AK/HI), and one at the discretion of Animal Shelter Services.
Animal shelters and animal control agencies interested in applying for this program must meet the following requirements:
* Be a registered 501(c)3 non-profit animal shelter or a municipally-run animal care and control agency with an annual operating budget no less than $300,000 and no greater than $3,000,000
* Have a physical facility (foster only organizations exempt from applying)
* Commit to having the assessment completed by March 31, 2019
* Be financially responsible for the difference in the cost between the assessment fee minus the scholarship
