SureShot Books FAQ
When shipping books to prisoners of a correctional institution, we urge you to pay careful attention to its regulations and procedures. Facilities differ on the items they permit.
(prHWY.com) June 21, 2011 - Nyack, NY -- Question: Can a prison reject a shipment to a particular inmate?
Answer: Yes, a prison can reject a shipment for a particular inmate if they are on bad behavior or have violated certain facility regulations (such as fighting etc). In addition, publications that are written in languages other than English that cannot be readily translated and reviewed for content may pose an overriding security concern to the facility. Inmates should check with their case manager or the mail room if inmate needs a Package Authorization Form to assure they can receive items from SureShot Books.
Question: What happens if a package shipped to an inmate is rejected?
Answer: While SureShot Books guarantees delivery of your items, each penitentiary occasionally rejects a package for unknown reasons. SureShot Books will offer a refund if the undeliverable merchandise is returned within 30 days no questions asked.
Question: If an inmate is in a Federal penitentiary or prison outside of the USA, can they still receive your products?
Answer: Yes! However, please, contact the prison mail room first! All Prisons will have their own guidelines. SureShot Books does not accept responsibility for any package that is mailed to the address provided by the customer.
Question: Can an inmate order book using their commissary account?
Answer: Yes, Inmates must check with their case manager, and have a check issued from their commissary account, with the payment made out to SureShot Books.
Question: What if an inmate is moved before the package arrives? What if I send magazines to inmates, or books, and the package never arrives at the prison unit?
Answer: SureShot Books has a USPS Delivery Confirmation number to track every package we send. We can provide legal proof when the package was delivered to the address you provided. If the inmate has moved, the package MAY be forwarded. The United States Postal Service provides free forwarding of periodicals for only 60 days and does not provide free forwarding for package service mail outside the local area. Whenever an inmate is transferred from one facility to another, it is the inmate's responsibility to notify the publisher of change of address. Therefore, it is important for the offender to change his address in a timely manner. If package is sent back to us, a re-shipping charge may be added for postage. If the error was made by SureShot Books we will re-mail at no charge.
