(prHWY.com) July 11, 2011 - Irving, TX -- For Immediate Release:

A new study reveals that kids aged 10 - 16 years old who engage in activities that improve focus and concentration end up with higher grades in school. The study included a mixed gender of children in this age group and exposed them to high concentration games such a memory cards, Scrabble, problem solving and a number of computer games that involved a lot of concentration and calm thinking such as an online flight simulator. The group showed a significant increase in their grades in school, scoring more than 10% higher in various subjects as compared to their last quarter grade.
Mental energies

"When kids direct their mental energies on one thing or one activity, the results can be astounding. Physical games like hopscotch or sports are also good for the body but do not provide the child with much opportunity to challenge the brain." Dr. Phil Larks, leading child psychologist says in his report. "The kids were asked to play about 2 - 3 hours of high level concentration games each day. These games are mostly focus-based like problem solving, mazes, memory and online flight simulators.
Challenging environment

"It seems that in a quiet and challenging environment, the kids harnessed their true mental powers and was able to tap into these channels like never before. The result was better memory, improved concentration and a focus previously unseen in their make-up." He continues. Fourteen year old Daren, one of the boys in the control group, has this to say about the experiment, "I enjoyed the activities very much. It was nice to sit in a calm manner and use my mental focus on something to win. Out of all the activities we were asked to do, my favorite was the Online Flight Simulator. It felt like the real thing."

Mentally stimulating

Jennifer, 11, agrees with this statement. "The online flight simulator was awesome. I felt like a real pilot. Of course I had to concentrate on my flight or else I will endanger my passengers. I like pretending that I am a million meters up the air."Parents are encouraged by the fact that some online games can actually be mentally stimulating. Linda, 37 has this to share, "I have been very worried about the hours my son spends playing shooting games on the computer. I am now less apprehensive now that he has discovered the online flight simulator. I have event tried it out once or twice myself. It is a very fulfilling experience." She laughs.
