So how is it possible that the Toyota Camry has achieved the title of Most American vehicle? Cars.com conducted their annual American-Made Index survey and concluded that the Camry is above the rest.
Factors that are included in their research show consumers just how American their vehicles are. The percentage of the parts of the models that have been manufactured in the States is just one component. Also incorporated are the vehicle's assembly location and how many of them are purchased by US consumers.
Palm Beach car dealers know that in such a globalized environment, it is difficult to calculate such a list. But editor in chief of Cars.com, Patrick Olsen thinks that his company is the best place to try. "Most cars built in the U.S., for example, are assembled using at least some parts that come from somewhere else. [But] our index is another resource that car buyers can use to help guide their purchase decision."
Drivers of the Toyota Camry know that their manufacturer isn't a one-trick pony. The Toyota Sienna is assembled in Indiana and was placed 6th. Assembled in Texas, the Toyota Tundra came in at 9th. Overall, Toyota had the most vehicles on the list! Olsen says that, "Despite the disaster in Japan... we're not surprised to see the Camry in the number one position again." Any local Palm Beach car dealer will tell you the same.
Drivers of the Toyota Camry in Palm Beach Gardens can proudly say that their vehicle is number one. That will be a pretty nice conversation starter, especially around the 4th of July!
