(prHWY.com) July 22, 2011 - Chicago, IL -- There has been a lot of talk recently about the surge in sales of Electric Vehicles (EVs) like the Nissan Leaf and the Chevy Volt. However, Toyota has possibly taken the EV to a whole new level with the expected release of at least 3 new EVs.
It is possible that by the end of next year, one of the models to be offered as an EV will be the famed RAV4. Chicago buyers will also be thrilled to learn that there could be a Prius and Scion version as well. As a part of the RAV4 EV project, Toyota has teamed up with Tesla. Future Oak Park RAV4 EV drivers will get about 100 miles per charge and almost the same acceleration rate as the RAV4 V6. This is great considering that the battery pack has added a little over 200 pounds of weight. The weight also lowered the RAV4's center of gravity, making it an even safer choice.
Chicago RAV4 fans will also be happy to note that in the design, zero cargo space was lost to the changes.
Upgrades to the vehicle include 18" alloy wheels, multimedia dash displays and push-button shifter and dash meters. The RAV4 EV is not without style changes either. Improved are the front bumper, fog lights, grille and head lamps. Even the vehicle's interior received a bit of trimming for a more attractive look.
Consumers have become a lot more enviro-conscious in the past few years. Buying hybrids and EVs has become part of this "green" process.
