The Tapestry association, the largest grant program for science teachers in the United States, reviews teacher's environmental science proposals. After reviewing the proposals, judges decide who will be the winners of the Toyota sponsored grants. This program has been in effect for twenty-one years and a total of over $10 million has been awarded to nearly 1200 teachers.
Toyota believes their support of the grant program promotes student's excitement about science. Prius V buyers might be interested to know that a grant of $10,000 each is awarded by judges to fifty teachers or teams of teachers who demonstrate excellent, original, risk-taking, creative education of their students. The teachers then use the money to implement and fund their proposed project.
