(prHWY.com) August 24, 2011 - Mumbai, India -- Speedy Singh is an Indo-Canadian film about a young boy called Rajveer Singh and his aspirations to make it to the national hockey team. The film earlier titled Breakaway is set in Toronto, Canada and is directed by Robert Lieberman. The music for the film has been created by Sandeep Chowta. The film has Vinay Virmani, Russell Peters, Camilla Belle, and Anupam Kher in the lead roles while producer Akshay Kumar, Drake, and Ludacris will be seen in guest appreances. Akshay Kumar is also one of the producers of the film. The film is slated for release on 30th September.
Rajveer Singh is the protagonist of the film who belongs to a traditional Sikh family and has been brought up to devote his life to his religion and father's business. But Rajveer is a talented hockey player who nurtures dreams of making it to the national hockey team. Rajveer dares to abandon the turban and cut his hair that stopped him from playing hockey and creates an all Indian hockey team, finds a coach and also manages to get a sponsor. As he is close to the championship he is faced with questions related to family, friendship, loyalty and identity.
'Shera Di Kaum' is RDB a rap number from the film that is making waves. The song which means that Punjabis are a community of lions has been picturised on Akshay Kumar.
