The IIHS doesn't give just any vehicle the "Top Safety Pick" designation; rather it is a coveted title that is given out to only the safest vehicles available on the market today. To be considered, vehicles must have electronic stability control and must take part in a series of crash tests which includes front, rear, side, and rollover. Only if they earn 'Good' (highest possible) ratings in all crash tests can vehicles earn the title of "Top Safety Pick."
With the addition of the Dodge Durango, Chrysler Group LLC now has a total of eight Top Safety Pick models! Other models include the following: Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Chrysler 200 sedan, Dodge Avenger, Dodge Journey, and Jeep Patriot.
