In June 2011, 1708 Nissan LEAF vehicles were sold. Sales are up from April's 573 units and May's 1142 units. This brings the total sales of LEAF vehicles for the year to 3875. The total sales would likely have been higher if not for production delays earlier in the year.
Nissan has reduced its expected sales level from the expected 20,000 for 2011. The company now hopes to sell between ten and twelve thousand LEAF vehicles this year. Vice president and general manager of the Nissan division, Al Castignetti, believes that the lower than expected sales levels are as result of production issues.
