BMW is bringing back its four cylinder engine after 12 years of putting the engine to rest. BMW decided to take the V4 engine off the market when the low powered option was not selling as well as the other engines. This year, the U.S. is enforcing stricter regulations on fuel economy, with the corporate average fuel economy rising from 27.5 miles per gallon in 2010 to 30.1 miles per gallon in 2011. The corporate average fuel economy will also rise over the next few years, with regulations changing to a minimum requirement of 35.5. miles per gallon in 2016 and 54.5 miles per gallon in 2025.
