5 night Mekong cruise aboard the stylish M/V Mekong Explorer

Bales' has just introduced the brand-new Northern Laos Cruising and the Temples of Angkor holiday which includes a formerly inaccessible segment of the Mekong River and visits two UNESCO world heritage sites - Luang Prabang and Angkor Wat. This trip features the new M/V Mekong Explorer which departs from Luang Prabang and cruises this untamed river in true comfort with 16 spacious air-conditioned cabins. All cabins are located on the main or upper decks; 8 classic cabins with a size of 12 square metre and 4 superior cabins with a size of 16 square meter and all have wide sliding windows and French balconies providing views of the stunning landscape.

The cruise heads south and into the Sayaboury province where few boats venture and the landscape becomes more spectacular: hills covered with tropical vegetation and awe-inspiring rock formations. This is where the full-force of the mighty Mekong gives the cruise a feeling of a real expedition - sudden drops in the water level may mean excursions in local Lao slow boats to the local villages. Along the route there will be opportunities to visit a school, waterfalls, caves, a traditional distillery and perhaps see elephants at work.
