Derek S. Witte Announces Participation in NADONA/LTC Annual Convocation and Expo

The speech given by Derek S. Witte was entitled, "Social Networking and Implications for Long-Term Care Employers/Employees." As a lawyer, Derek S. Witte was uniquely qualified to talk at length about this topic and provide information that could keep participants from making ghastly mistakes that could haunt them.

"Social networking has touched almost all aspects of human life," says Kevin S. Witte. "Many of these changes are inherently positive, but sometime, there are hidden traps. I've studied the issue of online privacy extensively, and I think there are some real issues of concern for people who work in healthcare."

Employees who post sensitive or derogatory information online might find themselves out of work, for example, or potential employees might find that the information they have online hurts their chances of even finding a job in the healthcare industry.

"I felt that these were important issues to bring to light, and I was happy for the opportunity to provide some background on the issue and set some parameters people can follow," says Derek S. Witte. "I've talked about this issue with other lawyers, but I think it's important that everyone, in all industries, know how to stay safe online. I hope my talk at this symposium helped participants understand online life a bit better."

The NADONA/LTC provides services to nurse executives and nurse administrators who work in the long-term care industry. The organization holds a meeting like this once per year, and is always looking for speakers with expertise and opinions that could help members do their jobs more effectively.
