U.S. Putting Tour Championship To Hold Official Qualifying Event in San Diego on June 3

(prHWY.com) May 23, 2012 - San Diego, CA -- Dana Chaiken, co-owner of the Carlsbad Golf Center in north Carlsbad, announced that the center will hold an official qualifying event for the 2012 U.S. Putting Tour Championship on Sunday, June 3 between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

Ms. Chaiken said that the event is open to all golfers regardless of handicap, skill level, experience or gender. "The only restriction is that golfers must be at least 8 years of age," said Chaiken. "The Junior division of the putting championship has three age divisions starting at age 8."

There are four Amateur Divisions in the USPT Championship: Men, Women, Seniors and Juniors, as well as a Pro Division, which is open to all golfers who are at least 13 years old as of September 26. The national putting championship takes place at Morgan Run Club & Resort between September 26 and October 2.

The qualifying event will be an 18-hole stroke play competition on the six-hole layout at Carlsbad Golf Center. Golfers will play in twosomes, with the 18 holes taking less than 45 minutes. One golfer will qualify for the USPT Championship for every 12 entrants in the June 3 event.

Ties for qualifying spots will be broken by a card-off in which the scorecards of all golfers who are tied will be compared, starting in reverse order from the final hole until the tie is broken. If scores are identical on two or more cards, then the tie will be broken by random draw.

Golfers can enter in person on the morning of the event by coming to the putting green at the Carlsbad Golf Center between the 8:00 a.m. and noon. The entry fee is $10 and golfers are allowed to enter multiple times.

Golfers who aren't able to participate in the June 3rd qualifying event can enter the USPT Championship directly at the U.S. Putting Tour website, USPuttingTour.com.
