International game Technology and Bally Technology, Las Vegas based firms, are at top of the list to get the license.
Both companies have applied for running the online casino systems in 2011 that would be a giant leap from their land-based casino services offered in Silver State. They are planning to target huge audiences if the licenses are awarded.
The recent move of IGT is about acquisition of Entraction Poker Network against a heavy investment of $115 million and $500 million spent for Double Down Interactive, which is a Facebook based gaming network.
IGT is looking for suitable partners from land-based casinos to start the venture in online gambling industry and considering getting the license by launching a pure U.S. based online casino. It's great news for U.S. gamblers who are facing tough situation due to cancellation of many U.S. based online casinos.
Bally Technologies have started their gambling business in 1930's with the introduction of pinball machines. They are also thinking their online casino a big business step.
After the Nevada Gaming control Board approves the applications of both firms, the case will go to Nevada Gaming Commission. If the Commission approves the applications as well, both firms would be the first one with legally licensed online casino to serve the U.S. gamblers.
The estimated time to start the licensed online casinos is 10 months, as revealed by Mark Lipparelli, Chairman Control Board. It would be December 2012, when licensed online casinos would be available for U.S. players.
