(prHWY.com) June 20, 2012 - Seattle, WA -- It is considered a rare treat for restaurants and hotels to be picked to serve the President of the United States, but never before has an Internet company had the honors of hosting the President's Internet account until now. A Sacramento Internet company has recently been asked by the Secret Service to host the President's Wi-Fi and Internet access while he plans a trip to the state of California.
"The President deals with a lot of sensitive information", said a spokesperson for the Secret Service. "We can't trust his Internet connection to any old Internet company. We want to make sure he has the best."
The Secret Service ran a test for Internet security on 15 different
Internet companies in the area. The test looked for Internet security, speed, and susceptibility to hackers and unauthorized users. All of which are top concerns for the President's Internet service.
"The last think we need is some 15-year old hacker gaining access to the nation's top secrets", said the spokesperson. "We want to make sure the President has access to the fastest Internet but also the most secure in the area. That is why we ran this test in the first place."
John Salem's Internet Company Data Transfers was chosen as the leading candidate for security and speed. The company will set up an independent Wi-Fi connection that allows the President and his family to gain access to the Internet.
"The key is to try to make sure that hackers don't get into his account", said Salem. "We have a very secure Internet connection anyways, but we are adding a few added security details just to make sure nothing extreme happens."
Never before has an Internet company gone to such extremes, but with the recent Internet threats from groups like Anonymous Internet security concerns are at an all-time high. Just last month Anonymous targeted a European government website and the social media giant, Facebook.
"After Anonymous targeted Facebook we knew we had to think about what Internet company we used", said the Secret Service spokesperson. "We couldn't leave it to just anyone."
This is the first Internet company to be able to say that they have officially been chosen to provide Internet access to the President.
"It's a thrill", said Salem. "How many other people can say they were chosen to help the President of the United States? Not many can say that. I can officially say that. That makes me special."
