(prHWY.com) June 21, 2012 - Seattle, WA -- Kitchen Co., a leading manufacturer of
kitchen cutting boards and other kitchen gadgets, recently announced an interesting side benefit to using their handy boards which are made of pressed plastic. It seems, that Mary Andersen, a busy stay-at-home mom of three active youngsters under the age of ten, was cooking lunch one day in the kitchen while keeping her eye on the kids in the pool.
"I looked up and noticed that my seven year old, Mollie, was struggling in the water. I didn't hesitate, I grabbed the first thing near me, the cutting board, and ran out the house." Explained Andersen as she recounted the episode. Mollie, an otherwise confident swimmer, just got a bit fatigued and Mom ran to the rescue, by throwing the cutting board into the pool.
The terrified girl grabbed the bobbing cutting board and clung to it as she caught her breath, and was able to safely make it to the side of the pool, much to the mother's relief. She later explained how she had been swimming with her brothers and was almost to the edge of the pool when she just got tired. The kids have since commandeered the cutting board and use it as a toy in the pool, much to their parents' amusement.
Samuel Frankendorf, a senior spokesperson for Kitchen Co., was pleased to announce the happy ending, but was careful to state that the "...cutting boards are not normally acceptable life-saving devices or flotation devices, but we're pleased that our product was able to help out in this situation." He also went on to explain how the high-tech poly resin formula in the cutting board was not only anti-bacterial but it also floated in water, making it easy to wash in a sink full of suds.
Many Internet news agencies have since run the story which has also been featured on many morning news talk shows such as Start Your Day and Morning Cup.
In fact, Mollie and her mother have made several appearances on late night television with the now famous cutting board in tow. The result has caused a sharp increase in the price of Kitchen Co. shares which jumped from $2.10 to more than $17.00 in daily trading.
When told how her story affected the price of the shares, Andersen just shrugged and said that "...you can't put a price on the safety of her kids." As thanks, Kitchen Co. reportedly sent a basket filled with new kitchen gadgets and a brand new kitchen cutting board.
