(prHWY.com) June 22, 2012 - Seattle, WA -- Technology problems plague everyone from students to senior citizens, but one would think that the President of the United States would have his own tech team to handle any problems that arise with laptops or desktop computers. One tech support agent based out of Maryland discovered that that was not the case.
"I occasionally do freelance tech work for the government", explained Harold Angel. "In order to do this type of work I had to obtain various security clearances that required me to have extensive background checks performed."
This occasional freelance tech work for the government was why Harold Angel wasn't surprised when he was contacted by the White House to perform a debugging of a computer. The request came into Harold Angel's office at 11 a.m. and requested that he help immediately with the computer.
"I was surprised that they required immediate help", said Angel. "But when you have a tech issue you have a tech issue. So I just replied that I could help ASAP and logged into my computer."
Harold Angel spent over three hours debugging and working on through
remote desktop software on the computer within the White House. He worked to recover files, backup information, and perform routine maintenance on the computer.
"The whole job was relatively easy", said Angel. "I've seen worse cases and it took me maybe three hours to fix, which isn't that big of deal. When I finished working I thought nothing of the project at all, until I got that letter in the mail."
Harold Angel received a letter in the mail that came embossed with the Presidential seal. The letter was dated three days before.
"I was extremely shocked to get this type of letter", said Angel. "I mean I really thought my friends were playing a prank on me. I mean who expects to get a letter from the President."
Upon opening the letter Harold Angel realized that it was a typed letter, signed by the President of the United States. He was thanking Mr. Angel for performing the routine maintenance on the family computer as his daughter has almost lost her school report. Mr. Angel was able to recover all the records and bring the family computer back online.
"I never would have thought that I would have performed a job for the President", said Angel. "I am extremely proud of that. I framed the letter and everything. It'll be something to tell my kids and grandkids for years to come."
