(prHWY.com) June 25, 2012 - Texas, NY -- HONG KONG (June 18, 2012) - The Daily Planet, designed by Valiant Rock Media, Inc., is a unique news app for iPhones and iPads, set to change the way we get news forever.

"Gone are the days when newspapers or TV stations tell everyone what the news is." says Mike Tanovic, VP of Marketing at Valiant Rock Media, Inc. "It has to be far more personal and interactive. Using the Daily Planet, users tell us what they want to read, watch or listen to, then the app brings together relevant news from numerous sources - whether it's all the latest details on a botched IPO or a 2-minute audio update on what's happening around the world."

The app brings together thousands of news sources, including the New York Times, the Financial Times, the Washington Post, BBC, CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg and the Associated Press as well as local news stations and newspapers based on user's chosen location. All articles are reorganized by subject into 15 top-level categories and their sub-categories. The app is also localized for 27 major metropolitan areas to bring up-to-the-minute local news, weather and local event updates.

"The app is designed with mobility in mind. That's why we added a navigation feature to a news app." says Mr. Tanovic. "We see it as an extension of the 'Local' section that focuses on where you are and follows you around. When I am on the move, I listen to news updates or browse articles from various sources, and I can use MapTracTM to find restaurants, movies, convenience stores or a gas station nearby. Many users often ask why there is a map in a news app, but they mostly add how much they like it."

The app has already seen early app store success on its debut as it has received a large number of favorable reviews and was featured in the 'What's Hot' section of highly competitive news category, in part due to its usability.

The look and feel of the application has been kept simple, yet the app is fully customizable. "Many apps are customizable, but we didn't stop there." says Dina McEvoy, a Senior Designer at the company. "We imagined a typical user and included a set of preferences, sources, favorites and even put colors on a few sources using the app's highlight feature. Goal was to allow users to use the app immediately and slowly make it their own."
