A local California dog food supplier has combined the need for emergency food supplies with the need to have raw dog food on hand.
(prHWY.com) June 25, 2012 - Seattle, WA -- Most pet owners know that there are certain foods that dogs just shouldn't eat. However, that doesn't mean that they can't eat human food it just means people have to be careful. A local California dog food supplier has combined the need for emergency food supplies with the need to have raw dog food on hand.
"When a disaster hits people need to be able to feed themselves and their pet", explained CEO of Edible Dog Food, James Windsor. "We know that people have a hard time remembering to pack dog food for natural disasters. Now, people can keep an emergency supply of food for themselves and their pet."
The food uses
natural ingredients that are safe for both humans and dogs. This combination allows the people to use the food for human consumption or dog food. There is no real difference and the shelf life is the same regardless of how it is used.
"What we hope is that people will stock up on these items and then should a natural disaster occur they will have enough supplies to feed themselves and their pet", said Windsor. "Now there won't ever be an instance where someone goes 'oh no I forgot the dog food', because we got them covered."
James Windsor plans on unveiling his product at the up and coming dog show in San Francisco. He has purchased a vendor station and plans on passing out free samples to those in attendance. He will also be hosting a Q & A session with individuals and teaching them how to prepare for natural disasters.
"Owning a pet makes natural disaster preparation different than those that don't have a pet", explained Windsor. "People think the process is the same but it isn't. I hope to host a session that will teach people how to prepare."
The raw dog food combination has already gone through a beta testing stage. The response has been fairly positive from both humans and pets.
"I tested the product for Windsor" said Carrie Anne Sullivan. "My dog loved it. I even tried it to see how it would taste. It's not something I would eat every day that's for sure, but if I were in a situation where I couldn't find food, I would certainly eat it."
The raw dog food/human food combination is designed to last up to 10 months on the shelf. This allows people to put it as part of their emergency preparation kit and not have to worry about replacing it on a regular basis.
