The report shows that solar panel installers had 109% more business in 2011, along with other record-breaking statistics. A Record-Breaking Year
In 2011, the solar power industry more than doubled their previous record of megawatts installed in one year. In 2010, they set a record of 887 MW installed, but 2011 saw 1,855 MW installed. This record number of installations is enough to power 370,000 average homes. 2011 was the first year
solar installers exceeded one gigawatt, which is 1,000 MW. Overall solar capacity is nearly great enough to power 1 million homes. Over 61,000 individual PV systems were installed in 2011 in America. The total of operating systems is now over 200,000. For the second year in a row, the solar industry was the fastest growing industry in America. Both homes and commercial properties invested in solar panels in 2011. According to experts, 2012 should be another successful year of record-breaking in the
commercial solar power industry.
