Legendary rockhound magazine finally reprinted
For real rockhounds, the startup of the Quarterly Magazine was an eagerly anticipated event.
(prHWY.com) August 4, 2012 - New York, FL -- For real rockhounds, the startup of the Quarterly Magazine was an eagerly anticipated event.

Then, when the magazine ceased publication a short few years later, rockhounds sighed and held their treasured copies. Those new to the field of amateur gemstone collecting have wondered or bought copies where they could find them.

Now, The-Vug.com is printing the entire four-year 16-edition press run. Each edition has been carefully screened and edited where necessary. All the new copies are handsomely bound into a hardcover package with issue by issue commentary, behind the scenes information and additional content, complementing the original articles.

"This is just, wow," said Troy Ashburn, a rock collector for just a few years. "I have heard about this magazine from the guys who taught me. I read some of their copies. Now I can get my hands on them?"

Read the original articles by some of the top rockhounds around. See the brilliant color pictures. Thanks to the hardback cover, the book also makes an excellent coffee table book and will go a long way to explaining your hobby to friends who just don't get it.

Each one of the sixteen issues collected in the book cover a different topic, including minerals replacing fossils, gem crystals and the popular issue on Fakes and Forgeries in the Mineral World. That issue had the expose on the salted diamond scandal at the Crater of Diamonds state park which was covered by several media outlets.

Articles in the magazines are from Justin Zzyzz, Jolyon Ralph, Alfredo Petrov, John Cornish, Joe Dorris, Marcus Origlieri, Chris Tucker, Peter Modreski, Frank Daniels,Glenn Worthington, Mike Streeter, Franklin Roberts, Jeff Scovil, Chris Wright, Wendell Wilson, Scott Kleine, Si and Ann Frazier, Stretch Young, Frank de Wit, Yinan Wang, Stephen Anderson, Mike Walter, Chris Stefano, Gary Maddox, Vandall King, Rick Kennedy, Tomasz Praszkier, Len Pisciotta, Jake Slagle, Mark Mauthner, Blake Barnett, Ray Hill and Ernst Schnaitmann.
